Search and design of molecules that allow "plants" to better defend themselves against "any" pathogen, mainly to combat the diseases that attack citrus.
CUSTOMER INFORMATION
Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, is an institution of dynamic development that has allowed it to reach a high level in research, development, production and commercialization of biological products obtained through the methods of modern biotechnology. It is currently subordinate to the Higher Organization for Business Management (OSDE) BIOCUBAFARMA
EXPECTED RESULTS USING HPC TECHNOLOGY
AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH AREA:
• Design of molecules capable of stimulating the defense system of plants. Although the objective of the project is to obtain a product that allows "plants" to better defend themselves against "any" pathogen, the idea arises to combat HLB or (Huanglongbing) which is a disease that attacks citrus, with one act impact globally.
BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH AREA:
• Rational design of inhibitor peptides of the PD-1 / PD-L1 interaction. Blocking the protein-protein interaction between the transmembrane programmed cell death protein (PD-1) and its PD-L1 ligand has now become a promising immunotherapy for the treatment of cancers.
• Design of an antiviral against dengue virus: In the CIGB a cellular receptor has been identified that mediates the replication of the dengue virus. Against this receptor, a Virtual Screening strategy is carried out that has made it possible to identify molecules with inhibitory activity of the virus in cell assays. Work is then done on optimizing these molecules with a view to obtaining a drug.
• Design of new drugs to regulate autoimmune disorders and cancer associated with ulcerative colitis.
In both cases, solutions and tools were used for the study of Molecular dynamics, Protein-Protein Docking and Virtual Screening
